Installations at Milan Design Week 2018

Milan Design Week 2018 is not the only one to show booths. Manufacturers and designers have prepared various performances: installations, theatrical shows, presentations. All representations are closely related to the world of design, so you need to look at them. What awaits visitors to the Milan exhibition?

Monster Cabaret

The Czech factory Lasvit dug its cabaret - Monster Cabaret. At a special exhibition will be presented the quaint crystal vases by Alessandro Mendini, comic aliens of the Kampan brothers, the amorphous figure of Gildenstern of the authorship of Daniel Libeskind. The show accompanies the burlesque show.

Exhibition in railway depot

For fans of design and modern art, the exhibition was prepared in an abandoned railway depot. Visitors are waiting for the installation, built on the principle of the puppet theater, from Stefan Herlemann and horgenglarus, the pop-up restaurant team Surface magazine and the architect David Rockwell, the work of Lee Edelkoort and Eileen Fisher in the niche of the fashion industry.

Projects of young designers

FuturDome - a project in which will be presented 83 presentations of designers with a fresh and unconventional outlook on life. Young talents will gather in a house that used to be the meeting point of Italian futurists.

Old tram

Visitors to the Milan exhibition will be able to ride a vintage tram. The vehicle of the year 1928 received a new salon. Interior decoration was done by Christina Celestino. The designer used textiles from famous brands in a luxury salon.

Showcases or works of art?

Rinascente is a department store in Milan, which for a week turns into an art-installation. Berlin artist Vajiko Chachiani placed behind the glass prototypes of sculptures that "tell" about the hard life of people picking cotton.

Course on History

Another interesting exhibition is devoted to the history of Italian design. In its framework will show 180 iconic objects created in the period 1902-1998. The objects are distributed along economic, political, communication, technological lines.

Living Nature - nature for life

Four seasons will meet in the pavilion, designed by designer Carlo Ratti. Thanks to modern climate control systems, visitors can both warm themselves up and make a snowman. The pavilion was conceived as a place for family rest.


The traditional conceptual exhibition of the Nendo studio is called Forms of Movemets. The performance is built on deception and feelings. Within the framework of the exhibition there will also be a display of objects that in different interpretations reveal the theme of the hourglass.

Palace and exhibition of non-commercial things

Within the design week, the 17th century palace will open its doors. Here, original, though non-commercial things will be presented. Emmanuel Babeld with pieces of plexiglass furniture, Jan Kat with carpets, Nude factory with developments by Ron Arad, designer Leonardo DiCaprio with a line of psychedelic furniture, based on the design of the motives of the Amazon Indians, take part in the exhibition.


To present the old and new developments of the Vitra brand have invited designer Robert Stadler. The show takes place in the space of La Pelota.

In memory of Carlo Molly

Store Woolrich prepared an exhibition about the designer, inventor and architect Carlo Molly. In the show room will present the furniture of his authorship, photographs and other relics.

Jewelry theme

Installation from the jewelry house Bvlgari, MVRDV, architect Ivan Navarro and Storage Associati is dedicated to the ring B.zero1 and will be held on three sites. Each author presented his vision of this model.

Vintage and modernity

DimoreGallery is a large apartment with modern and vintage items. Three installations are planned here: an exhibition of design icons of the twentieth century, showing their own novelties, decorating six display cases using fragments and details of antique furniture.
